2015/16 YPS Colour Print Competition Results, Next Week's Talk and Project Night Information

The YPS Colour Print Competition was held on the 3rd February 2016. The entries were expertly judged by Dave Coates ARPS, ESFIAP/p, APSA, EPSA, MPAGB, APAGB from Northallerton and the winner was YPS President, Peter Bayliss with his shot of "A Common Tree".

The full results and galleries of placed, Highly Commended and Commended images are here.

Next week, YPS member Neville Turton is giving a talk entitled, "My 4 Fs -- From Field and Village Into Camera and Prints". We all know the quality of Neville's prints and hopefully, he'll let us in on his secrets!

A week later sees another of our popular Project Nights. The theme is "Gritty Urban Environments". A reminder that images should be emailed to Alison rather than Russell for this one. You can also bring images on a thumbdrive on the night.

As a brief recap on the details that were on the email that Alison circulated recently, images should fit within a box measuring 1400 pixels horizontally by 1050 pixels vertically. They should be JPEGs in sRGB space.

Name the files as number_some title_your name.jpg (e.g. 1_gritty minster_freda bloggs.jpg). So, no leading zero and there's an underscore between the number and title and then title and name. The reason for this is so that images are projected in some sort of order rather than a single member's images being shown in one go.

First YPS Print Competition of the Season

Congratulations to Lewis Outing who won the 2015/16 YPS Monochrome Print Competition with his closely cropped shot of a rugby maul. There were 55 prints entered in the competition, which was expertly judged by Bill Johnson ARPS, DPAGB, APAGB. Thanks again, Bill.

Full results are here.

Next week we have YPS member Morris Gregory giving a talk entitled, "Not Just Fish". Morris is an accomplished underwater photographer but also turns his hand to other genres. Have a look at his gallery page.

You'll have noticed that this is a programme change. By the way, there have been a few enforced programme changes and an updated one will be available soon.

Finally, I've added a link to an excellent extreme macro-photography website run by Jonas Ingles-Le Nobel on our Photographic Techniques page (Resources > Photographic Techniques).
