This is the website of York Photographic Society, York's longest established photography club and indeed one of Britain's earliest photographic societies. New members are always welcome to this thriving, friendly and energetic camera club.

03 October - Andrea Hargreaves - The Art of Metamorphosis

Andrea writes: My Distinctions are MPAGB, EFIAP/b, BPE3, PSA4  I am a member of Pontefract Camera Club and a Member of the YPU (Yorkshire Photographic Union) Executive committee as Advancing Photography Secretary and Mentoring coordinator.  I am obsessed with creating my own original images in Photoshop composed from my own photographs but photography wise I am most content in a hide up to my knees in mud and water or being bitten to death in a swamp photographing wildlife.

In my presentation I begin by showing a brief digital presentation of images showing how I started in club photography and some of which I used to gain my early photographic distinctions.

This is followed by a presentation explaining the route my images take from photo shoot to finished competition entry – showing how I constructed a successful series of images which made up my latest distinction submissions.

The images are mostly Creative / Altered Reality and have female nudity. Time permitting, I show a couple of extra powerpoint presentations where I build up some images layer by layer  - very quick but effective!

The talk is digital which is loaded onto my Macbook pro but I also bring prints to supplement the talk and for members to look at during the break if they wish.
