So. We're into 2015 and about to kick off the second session of our season on the 7th January when John Illingworth will be giving us a talk on his Diverse Photography. A little bit about John can be found here.
In the meantime, here's the meat of Morris Gregory's email about upcoming competitions along with some other pointers. Those responsible for collecting the images can be emailed by clicking on their names.
YPS Monochrome Print Competition
Entries to Allan Highet by 14th Jan 2015 at latest, handed in on club nights or at Allan’s home by special arrangement. This deadline has been moved from the 7th January so you have an extra week.
Please submit a maximum of 3 prints (not 4 as was previously the case).
Each print must be accompanied by a corresponding JPEG image in the usual size, also to be sent to Allan Highet (emails preferred but CDs/ USB sticks also accepted).
Please make sure you are aware of the YPS competition rules (to be found here) which also explain the requirements for the accompanying JPEG images.
Any queries, please email Allan Highet. You can also contact Allan by phone - see the original email from Morris for Allan's phone number.
PAGB PDI Cup Competition
Please email a small selection (max 5 general and 5 nature) of your best photos to John Illingworth by 5th Jan 2015 at latest but preferably a bit earlier.
Images to be JPEGs of 1400 pixels maximum dimension (horizontal) x 1050 pixels maximum dimension (vertical). For portrait format images the 1050 pixels (vertical) limit applies.
Note that nature entries must not be of domestic animals or plants and must not show too much intrusion by humanity. This is detailed in the complete PAGB competition rules which can be found here.
The selection of the images that will constitute our entry will be made by the YPS Committee on 6th January 2015.
Photography News/Absolute Photography Competition
The first round of this competition is on the theme "Water" and five images from five different authors from YPS are required.
Please email up to 5 images to Allan Harris for consideration.
Round one closes on 5th January 2015 so please get your entries to Allan (Harris) ASAP.
Note that the size/format of images to be accepted for this competition is 72dpi JPEGs between 1mb and 3mb (even though the "72dpi" bit is meaningless in this context).
