York Photographic Society

21st February "Pocklington CC Exchange Visit"

This is the website of York Photographic Society, York's longest established photography club and indeed one of Britain's earliest photographic societies. New members are always welcome to this thriving, friendly and energetic camera club.

YPS Member? Need Help with Your Photography? Start Here...

At York Photographic Society, we love to learn new things, even those of us a little longer in the tooth. The Committee Members now have their own page on the YPS Website where you can find out a little bit about what drives them photographically and what skills and knowledge they may have. We've also included mugshots so you can see who's who.

The idea is that if new (or experienced) members want a little guidance or advice on any aspect of photography, we're on hand and are happy help if we can.

It goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway) that photographic skills and knowledge aren't restricted to Committee Members. There are many YPS Members with incredible photographic experience who will be more than happy to help if they are able.

So if you you're wondering what that button does on your camera, or what a layer is in Photoshop, how Lightroom can be both brilliant and hopeless at the same time or even if Cartier-Bresson's decisive moment would have been easier with a motor drive, come and ask us. And if we can't help, we'll hand you over to someone who (hopefully!) can.

Here are the current Committee Members (two more to be added). Click on an image to start a slideshow and hover your mouse pointer over the image to see who's who...
