This is the website of York Photographic Society, York's longest established photography club and indeed one of Britain's earliest photographic societies. New members are always welcome to this thriving, friendly and energetic camera club.

Renowned photographer Tony Worobiec will be giving a talk to YPS on the 25th February 2015 entitled, "Photographing the Coast". The lecture illustrates how accessible the coast is regarding photography, as it can be photographed during the day or at night. While most of the images have been taken within the UK, several have been taken in other parts of Europe and the US

Tony Worobiec studied Fine Art at The University of Newcastle upon Tyne and spent 18 years as head of a large design faculty in Dorset. He has won awards for photography in the UK and internationally, and has had work exhibited in London’s Barbican Gallery, The Independent Photographer's Gallery, The Fox Talbot Museum, Bradford’s National Museum of Photography and The Menier Gallery London.  He is a founder member and past chairman of the prestigious Arena group of photographers.

Tony regularly writes articles for UK and American photographic magazines. He is the author of 14 books the latest of which titled, “The Complete Guide to Photographic Composition” has just been published. Nearly 200,000 copies of his books have been sold and have been translated into Dutch, German, Spanish, Taiwanese, Mandarin, Russian and rather fittingly Polish. Tony is currently working on a new project where he is attempting to photograph the entire British coast at night.
