17th January Project Night "Looking up" :- further information on the blog

This is the website of York Photographic Society, York's longest established photography club and indeed one of Britain's earliest photographic societies. New members are always welcome to this thriving, friendly and energetic camera club.

The 2015 session continues with YPS member Rob Swallow giving a talk entitled, "Hirundo's Journal: Life-Saving Images and Words". Rob has this to say about himself:

"My father was a very keen black and white photographer, particularly after he left the Army after serving in India during the Second World War. Much to my later regret, I never really picked up that interest in my youth, and in fact I have really only been photographing “seriously” for approximately a decade."

"The images I take which end up in “Hirundo’s Journal”, and have done for over two years, range from landscape to urban, abstract to portraits, macro, still life through to architecture. I will share some of the entries from the journal, describe the on-line community where it  belongs, and why words can be as important as the images themselves."

Finally, Rob offers us a quote from Imogen Cunningham :: “Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow."
