This is the website of York Photographic Society, York's longest established photography club and indeed one of Britain's earliest photographic societies. New members are always welcome to this thriving, friendly and energetic camera club.

York Photographic Society's annual Monochrome Print Competition was held on the 6th February 2015 and was judged by Stephen Dean LRPS. Over 60 prints were entered and these were whittled down to 3 commended images, 3 highly commended and 3rd, 2nd and 1st place. Stephen provided detailed and insightful comments on each of the prints, finally settling on Rob Swallow’s entry titled ‘Mablethorpe’. Stephen was struck by the almost surreal nature of the image, with numerous ambiguous and intriguing elements that were reminiscent of the work of Martin Parr. In second place was Allan Harris’s ‘Elephant Texture and 3rd was ‘Hand Painted’ by Neville Turton.
