13th December Annual Auction with mince pies and sausage rolls

This is the website of York Photographic Society, York's longest established photography club and indeed one of Britain's earliest photographic societies. New members are always welcome to this thriving, friendly and energetic camera club.

Peter Thompson was our judge tonight, not only did he judge the Digital Projected Image competition he also judged the John Saville Competition. We are immensely grateful for his hard work, diligence and positive comments about our images. In all he had to review 76 images from 26 members for the Digital Projected Image Competition and 28 pictures from 14 members for the John Saville Competition.

Congratulations to Glynnis Frith’s picture “Freight on the Moors” which was first. Peter felt the image was alive and 3D in nature, capturing the moment of the train working hard up the hill.

In second place was “Rowing Winter Morning” by Allan Highet and in third was “You sure you dropped it here” by Chris Hart

The images of Ian Smith, Mike Blackman and Glynnis Frith were highly commended.

Commended pictures were by Chris Hart, Rebecca Johnson and Tim Evans
