13th December Annual Auction with mince pies and sausage rolls

This is the website of York Photographic Society, York's longest established photography club and indeed one of Britain's earliest photographic societies. New members are always welcome to this thriving, friendly and energetic camera club.

We are immensely grateful to Henrietta Byrne who was our judge for this competition and also the judge for the Improver’s competition. Her comments about the images were extremely helpful and constructive. In all she had a total of 100 pictures from the two competitions to judge for the night.


The winner of the Leatt Cup was Anthony Ward with his superb trio of pictures of waxwings. The two outer images complementing the inner one. The colour and detail were brilliant.

In second place was Neville Turton with his three “Balkan Butterflies”

In Third Mary Chatburn with a “A bad day at the Sheep Auction”

Alison Taylors “Flavours of the Wolds” was highly commended

And Neville’s pictures of “Grizzly Bears -Alaska” were commended
