York Photographic Society

16th October - Allan Harris - "Travels of Myanmar"

This is the website of York Photographic Society, York's longest established photography club and indeed one of Britain's earliest photographic societies. New members are always welcome to this thriving, friendly and energetic camera club.

We were very grateful to Elly Ross for judging our competition. She had the unenviable task of choosing the winners from 64 superb prints.

In first place was Frank Adams with his picture entitled “River Etive”. This picture was taken on a bleak winter’s day. Elly particularly liked the depth of field and the mist over the mountain top evoking the sense that you were actually there in the photograph. The paper chosen for printing the image complimented the image very well as did the mounting.

In second place was Morris Gregory’s “Mud spattered” and in third David Gough with “Window”

The pictures of Rebecca Johnson, Mary Chatburn and Neville Turton were highly commended

The pictures of Anthony Ward, Anthony Emmott and Chris Hart were commended
